Bio

Joanna Dziewanowska -Stefańczyk (Chodkiewicz), artist, born 1981 in Warsaw. Joanna’ s diverse practice includes oil, watercolour, graphics, tapestry and painting on silk. Co-founder of the “A stone’s throw away” collective.She graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 2006 and the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Art Works at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2017. Her works are often inspired by objects and places with shadows appearing as a focus of her work. She draws inspiration from everyday objects. Her work has been shown in a number of group and solo exhibitions in galleries worldwide. She is interested in community practices with the participation of other artists, combining various fields of art. She organizes and participates in collective artistic activities, which at the moment are focused around the topic of women’s work and intergenerational relations.
